When uploading an on-premises virtual machine to Azure, the virtual hard disk must be in the `.vhd` format and be a fixed-size disk. In the VM1 settings exhibit, the disk is currently configured in the `.vhdx` format (`VM1.vhdx`). Azure does not support the `.vhdx` file format for uploaded virtual machines. Therefore, you must modify the hard drive properties by converting the virtual disk from VHDX to a fixed-size VHD before it can be used as a template in Azure.
