When a virtual network is linked to an Azure Private DNS zone with auto-registration enabled, the Azure DHCP service automatically registers the primary private IP address of any virtual machine running in that virtual network as an A record in the zone. The client-side DNS suffix configured inside the operating system of the VM (e.g., `contoso.com` on VM2) is completely ignored during auto-registration. Public IP addresses are never automatically registered. Thus, both VM1 and VM2 will have A records created pointing to their private IP addresses only.
